Customs officers found 28,000 protective masks in a cargo van carrying steel washers

Customs officers from the General Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation found 560 boxes with 28,000 protective masks hidden in the cargo hold of a minibus carrying steel washers.
The freight minibus with Romanian registration arrived at the Lesovo Customs Checkpoint on April 9, 2020 at around 5 am, on the route “Incoming trucks” from Turkey. The driver submitted a transit customs declaration that he was transporting steel washers. During the customs inspection of the vehicle with specialized X-ray equipment, the customs officers establish a suspicious area among the cargo. During the subsequent physical inspection, 14 boxes containing 560 boxes with a total of 28,000 face masks in factory packages were found among the boxes with steel washers.
Smuggled protective masks were seized. Against the driver – a Romanian citizen with initials M.F. an act has been drawn up for the established administrative violation.
