Customs officers detained 49 kg of tobacco without excise labels

49 kilograms of smoking tobacco without a Bulgarian excise label were detained by customs officers from the Operational Control Sector – Lom unit at the MRD Dunavska department.

On December 3, 2020, after a risk analysis, the customs inspectors stopped for inspection a van type car in the town of Mezdra. Two people are traveling in the vehicle with Sofia registration. In the course of the inspection it was established that 49 kilograms of smoking tobacco without Bulgarian excise excise were transported in bags in the trunk of the car. The goods are distributed in 190 packages intended for retail sale. Pre-trial proceedings were instituted in the case under the supervision of the Mezdra District Prosecutor’s Office. Work on the case continues.
