More than 14,000 “branded” goods were detained by customs officers in the area of Kapitan Petko Voyvoda border checkpoint

More than 14,000 textiles and sports shoes with the logo of world-famous brands were found by customs officers from the Thracian Customs Intelligence and Investigation Departments and Customs Mobile Groups during inspections in the area of ​​Kapitan Petko Voyvoda border checkpoint.
In one of the cases you can find “branded” goods in a truck with a foreign registration, enter the country from Greece through the Kapitan Petko Voyvoda border checkpoint on March 27, 2021. The driver of the truck, a Romanian citizen, presented documents for the transport of textiles from Turkey to Romania. The vehicle was selected for a thorough inspection, which is carried out in the customs hall of the Territorial Directorate “Thracian” in Svilengrad. 11,914 textiles with the logo of protected trademarks have been identified, of which 7,089 have been declared but no advice has been maintained that infringes intellectual property rights. Find 4230 dresses, pants, sports sets, leggings, 2250 T-shirts and 99 pairs of sports shoes, all with the logo of 35 protected brands, most of which are Nike, Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Armani, Gucci. Lacoste, Polo. Find another 510 children’s sets with an image of the cartoon character Mickey Mouse. The inspection revealed that 4825 textile hats with a visor, decorated with registered marks, were not described in the commercial documents and were contained as the subject of smuggling.
On March 26 and 28, 2021, customs officers inspected two fireplaces carrying goods from Turkey to Romania in the area of ​​the Kapitan Petko Voivoda border checkpoint. In one truck customs inspector found 1,082 dresses, children’s sets, pajamas and T-shirts with a picture of Mickey Mouse and 765 T-shirts with a complex and figurative image of Air Jordan, and in others – 276 T-shirts with the image of the popular cartoon heroine Garfield.
Goods can support advice that infringes intellectual property rights. The owners of the trademarks will be informed about the cases. Administrative penal proceedings are established to detect smuggled hats.
