Customs officers found 250,000 undeclared euros in a refrigerated truck transporting flowers from Turkey to the Netherlands via Bulgaria and Romania.

On 01.08.2021, around 05.00, the customs inspectors stopped for inspection a refrigerated freight train with a tractor and a trailer with Turkish registration leaving the country through the Danube Bridge-Vidin border checkpoint. The driver presented regular documents for the transport of flowers, and told the customs officers that in addition to the goods he transported only his personal luggage. During the subsequent inspection, the inspectors found bundles of euro banknotes in the factory cavity of the driver’s seat. When listing them in the presence of the driver, it is established that the money is 250,000 euros. For the amount the driver does not present a bank or other payment document. An act for administrative violation was drawn up for him.
