Illegally transferred 99,000 euros were found by the customs officers of the Ministry of Justice Kapitan Andreevo

An attempt for illegal transfer of currency with the BGN equivalent of BGN 193,627 was prevented by the customs officers from the Territorial Directorate of Burgas Customs.

On October 14, 2021, at about 3:30 a.m., a Mercedes-Benz tractor and a semi-trailer with Turkish registration arrived at the Kapitan Andreevo Customs Checkpoint. The driver presents to the customs officers regular documents for the transported goods – fabrics from Germany to Turkey via Bulgaria. According to the “risk analysis” method, the truck was selected for a thorough customs inspection, during which no violations were found. A subsequent personal examination of the driver revealed that 10 bundles of 200, 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5 euro banknotes were hidden in transparent plastic bags taped with brown tape around his waist. The total amount of the undeclared money is EUR 99,000 with a BGN equivalent of BGN 193,627

A 41-year-old man with Turkish citizenship was charged with illegal transfer of foreign currency in a particularly large amount by an investigating customs inspector from TD Customs Burgas under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office – Haskovo – Territorial Department – Svilengrad.
