7990 boxes of cigarettes were detained by customs officers during a road stop inspection of a light truck.
On April 28, 2022, on the main road in the area of Sevlievo, employees of the Ruse Customs TD, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department, Operational Control Sector – Svishtov and employees of the Gabrovo Police Department stopped a light truck for inspection. When inspecting the car and the cargo, the customs inspectors found that in the luggage compartment of the vehicle the driver was transporting 16 boxes of cigarettes without a valid Bulgarian excise label.
7990 packs of cigarettes (159,800) were seized. Pre-trial proceedings have been instituted in the case under the supervision of the Gabrovo District Prosecutor’s Office for a crime under Article 234, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code.
