Recipients of shipments subject to customs clearance from Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Haskovo, Smolyan and Kardzhali regions can
submit their documents for the release of parcels on site (from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) in the building of the post office Plovdiv 23 at the address “Osvobozhdenie” Blvd. No. 40, as well as to the following email addresses: customerservice@bgpost.bg , PSM.Plovdiv@bgpost.bg.
In April of this year, Bulgarian Post reported that changes in the customs processing of parcels are gradually being introduced, reducing the number of post offices to customs.
Information was received that as of 01.05.2022, the post office in Plovdiv is ceasing its customs clearance processing activities. This activity was completely taken over by the operating service “Customs Service” BRSC, Sofia.
However, probably due to inconvenience, the service has been restored in Plovdiv as well.
Customs documents are drawn up for a number of international postal items containing goods from a non-EU country, regardless of whether it is an order from an online store or a gift from an individual /friend/.
For this purpose, declarations and documents are prepared and the corresponding fees are paid.
From 1.07.2021, European legislation provides for two thresholds for taxation of postal and courier shipments from third countries that are subject to distance sales and are addressed to a natural person.
Shipments with a net value of up to EUR 150 – VAT is due for them according to the rate for the relevant goods (in Bulgaria, most goods and services are subject to VAT at the rate of 20%). These consignments are exempt from customs duty under Articles 23-24 of Regulation (EC) No. 1186/2009.
Shipments with a net value of more than EUR 150 – duty and VAT are due at the respective rates.
Customs duties are levied on goods that enter the territory of the European Union (EU) from third countries (non-EU members).
