Customs Officials Seize 10,233 Textile Products, Likely Violating Trademarks, Following Risk Analysis

Customs officers in the Vidin area seized 10,233 textile products – including t-shirts, shirts, hats, and sportswear – suspected of violating trademark rights. The items were confiscated during an inspection near the Bulgarian-Romanian border.

On August 8, 2025, after a risk analysis, customs officials from the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate stopped a cargo truck traveling from Turkey to Belgium and France, as indicated in the transport documents.

The truck was selected for inspection and escorted to the Vidin Customs Bureau. A thorough examination revealed that some of the declared items were branded with popular trademarks. Customs officials had reasonable doubts that these products violated Regulation (EU) 608/2013 concerning the protection of intellectual property rights.

The 10,233 seized items, including t-shirts, shirts, sports gear, and hats, will be forwarded to the respective trademark holders for further verification. The investigation is ongoing.
