Customs officers found nearly 626 liters of illegal alcohol in a private home.
On January 12, 2021, inspectors from the Operational Control Sector – Svishtov Unit of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department – Danube carried out an inspection of a house in a village in the municipality of Levski. In the kitchen, closet and basement of the house are found glass and plastic bottles of different capacity, as well as a can of liquid with the smell of ethyl alcohol. Some of the tubes are labeled “undiluted”. A notebook was found at the address, describing the type of fruit distillate and the year in which the alcohol was produced in the various bottles.
The found quantities are without a valid Bulgarian excise label, and within the inspection no documents for boiling in a registered specialized small distillation site were presented, as required by the Law on Excise Duties and Tax Warehouses. Pre-trial proceedings were instituted in the case according to the inventory of the territorial department of the Ministry of Regional Development – Danube under the supervision of the Pleven District Prosecutor’s Office.
