More than 17 kg of marijuana was found by customs officers in a shipment with electrical panels

More than 17 kg of marijuana was found by customs officers in a shipment with two electrical boards, sent from Spain as a consignee in Bulgaria.
On January 31, 2022, based on a risk analysis, employees of the Anti-Drug Trafficking Department at the Sofia Customs TD selected a courier flight for a thorough customs inspection and found that it was two boxes resembling electrical switchboards. When opening the tray, the customs officers saw that 15 vacuum-packed transparent packages with green grassy mass, with a total weight of 17.1 kg, were placed inside them. In a field drug test, the contents of the packages reacted to marijuana. An investigating customs inspector was notified about the case and pre-trial proceedings were instituted on the grounds of Art. 242, para 2 of the Penal Code under the supervision of the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office.
