Undeclared currency worth over BGN 145,000 was found by the customs officials of the Kapitan Andreevo police station

Customs officials found undeclared currency with the equivalent of BGN 145,611 during an inspection of a truck leaving the country.

On 27/08/2022, around 06:00, a tractor trailer with a semi-trailer with Turkish registration, traveling from the Netherlands via Bulgaria to Turkey, arrived at MP Kapitan Andreevo. The vehicle with a driver – a Turkish citizen – was selected for a thorough customs check, during which it was found that packages containing euro banknotes of different denominations were hidden in the dashboard. The total amount of discovered undeclared currency is 74,450 euros with the BGN equivalent of 145,611 BGN.

In the case, a fast-track proceeding was initiated by an investigative customs inspector under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office Haskovo-territorial department – Svilengrad.
