The Director of the “Customs” Agency, Pavel Gerenski, participated in the 103rd meeting of the Customs Policy Group at the DG Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD), which was held on December 14, 2022 in Brussels. During the meeting, discussions continued regarding the upcoming customs reform. Emphasis was placed on customs processes, including e-commerce and procedural simplifications, which continue the trend of ensuring fast supply chains and supporting legal businesses through uniform and clear procedures and controls based on risk analysis.
The Directors General of Customs of the Member States and the EC also discussed the relations between the EU and the United Kingdom in the customs field, as well as the process of building the national components of the information systems of the Member States according to the Customs Code of the Union. During the meeting, the current status of the new ICS2 system and its application to postal items was discussed.
The Customs Policy Group at DG Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD) meets twice a year, and within its framework the participants – heads of customs administrations from the Member States on the one hand, and the European Commission on the other – discuss strategic issues for the development of the customs union.
