Two customs officers received the Badge of Honor of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria. Their award was presented by the Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev today, March 4, 2021, at an official ceremony after a working meeting of the leadership of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria (PRB) and the Ministry of Interior (MIA). Together with Georgi Hristov, Senior Investigating Customs Inspector at the General Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, and Irian Nikitov, Senior Expert at the DGMRD, four employees of the Ministry of Interior, Dean Goranov, received awards for their participation in the investigation of drug smuggling. Inspector in the BOP-Varna Sector at the GDBOP – Ministry of Interior, and the investigating police officers from the BOP-Varna Sector Zhivko Strahilov, Borislav Dimitrov and Plamena Videnova, as well as Diana Ivanova, Deputy District Prosecutor of the Varna District Prosecutor’s Office, and Dimitar Kayryakov, Prosecutor in the OP -Varna. The two are supervising prosecutors in the pre-trial proceedings for illegal transportation across the border of over 400 kg of heroin, discovered in February this year.
A total of 18 prosecutors, investigators and employees of the Ministry of Interior and the Customs Agency were awarded at the ceremony for their high professionalism and excellent performance of official duties.
